The light across the year

The sun does not set in the same place all year. In June it drops well north of west and stays up until half past eight. By December it sets to the southwest, and the light is gone before five.
That sixty-degree swing is why a venue can feel like two different places in two different seasons. It changes which side of the property is lit at the end of the day, how long there is after the ceremony, and whether the sun is behind the guests or behind the couple.
